Blossoming Branches Abound - a spring garden wedding PDF Print E-mail

Well the rain held off just long enough for us to put on a fabulous ceremony this weekend.  This past Sunday another couple exchanged vows at the beautiful Davis Islands Garden Club, and despite the looming clouds overhead, the skies did not open up until after the outdoor ceremony finished, almost by mere seconds!

Although some details were overlooked or left until last minute, the bride and groom brought us on board and we wrapped up all the loose ends, from favors to programs, a unity sand ceremony to flowers, and even some impromptu music selections and transportation arrangements.  Everything came together beautifully and the wedding was a success.

As shown in these photographs, the floral arrangements make a tremendous impact at every wedding and should not be underestimated.  The bridesmaids wore dusty rose satin dresses, and the bride wore a stunning silk gown with silver accents and beadwork, so we adopted a color scheme of various shades of muted pinks, silver, and white.  The bride loved the look of blossoming tree branches, as well as pale pink exotic orchids, so we made sure to incorporate these florals throughout the ceremony and reception.

As guests arrived they were escorted to the ceremony garden chairs overlooking the water and gazebo.  The aisle was lined with stems of exotic orchids tied with silver satin ribbon.  To frame the entrance of the gazebo, the florist created a branching arch, dripping with fresh orchid blossoms.  Guests watched as the bride and groom exchanged vows and rings, as well as performed a unity sand ceremony by combining pink and white sand into a bubble-shaped apothecary jar.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed butler passed hors d'oeuvres on the Veranda.  The wrap-around bench was dotted with pink, silver, and white pillows, and a quartet of hightop tables featured hand opened roses floating in glass cubes.

We created a contemporary escort card display by hand scribing the guests' names on black polished river rocks, and nestled the stones in a blanket of moss below another towering tree adorned with suspended orchids.  Orchid blossoms dotted the mossy base as if they had fallen from the branches above. The result was truly stunning!  We received so many compliments on this amazing focal point.

Upon entering the reception hall, guests were directed to the dinner tables, which featured silver crinkle taffeta linens and alternating high and low centerpieces.  The low centerpieces consisted of large round glass bowls filled with clusters of black river rocks, still water, and orchid blossoms and candles floating delicately atop.  The tall centerpieces were created using more towering branches covered with stationary and suspended orchids, along with hanging votive candles, and anchored in a mossy base.

The catering company (Olympia Catering) created beautiful buffet displays complete with blossoming branches, a gourmet coffee station, and a gorgeous wedding cake piped with branches of cherry blossoms - and it was delicious too.  A sweet ending to a beautiful wedding.
