Do you ever feel like if you see another wedding centerpiece of a cluster of candles on top of a round mirror, you're going to scream!? Then check out these pics from last night’s Savvy Bride Workshop featuring more different and creative DIY Centerpieces!
This first table featured a very organic, natural, artistic centerpiece, inspired by a couple who enjoys literature, poetry, and classic touches. We stacked vintage-stamped journals and topped them with a coffee mug filled with red alstromeria (Peruvian lilies), paired with a small milk bottle-style vase filled with feather pens! Paired with simple red napkins and burlap table linen, the effect was perfect! Try natural wooden pencils instead of feathers, or a handful of bookmarks paired with books wrapped in brown paper covers.
This table featured overturned glassware in a cluster, each atop colorful flower heads, with votive candles balanced on the upturned bases. Isn’t it fabulous? And so inexpensive and easy! You could also set the glassware over fruit such as lemons, limes and oranges, or apples and pears, or atop seashells or other trinkets – you name it! We set our centerpiece over citrus-colored bubble linen.
This table’s centerpiece was Moroccan-inspired, with a large flat bowl supporting a funky blown glass lantern and votives painted with gold elephants. Sprinkle around some fresh flower heads and a few pieces of fruit (we chose persimmons) and voila! Stunning! Another variation would be to use a tin lantern surrounded by sand, seagrass, and shells. Or a black iron lantern with fall leaves, apples, and chestnuts! And don’t be afraid to mix bold colors to compliment the Moroccan theme, like our eggplant linen with a fiery orange overlay and copper napkins!
This black centerpiece has a lot of visual interest. We created it by stacking simple votive holders and hot-gluing them together in a pyramid shape! This created the height and scale we were looking for, while only needing a few heads of flowers for the piece to look full (much less expensive than a traditional floral centerpiece). The same effect could be achieved by using bud vases instead of votive holders, and you can stack them higher for a more dramatic effect! We placed our centerpiece atop black and white damask print linens with fuchsia napkins.
We created this simple centerpiece by stacking two fishbowls of different sizes atop each other and filling the fishbowls with fresh flower heads. This has got to be the simplest centerpiece we featured, but it has such a modern, clean, fresh vibe to it. You could also stack a third bowl on top, and fill the bowls with different foliage to match your colors or style. And how about this gorgeous color combination of deep navy tablecloths with bright citron napkins – HOT!!
This final centerpiece consisted of a large footed vase filled with bulb ornaments (for a classic spin on a holiday event.) It looks beautiful alone, but top it with a simple lampshade lit with LED lights and you have a more modern look! You could fill the vase with anything from seashells to citrus fruit, or even water and submerged flowers, or a goldfish! We anchored our arrangement on a silver charger over watery crinkle linens.
